International brand strategy expert Matt Davies will be leading a session which will share with us the principles of branding. He’ll explain why brand strategy is essential for the modern business in order to do marketing well.
As part of this session he’ll also be introducing us to one of the most powerful positioning tools that has helped countless of his clients over the last 15+ years. Matt will lead a hand’s on mini-workshop, helping attendees to create a powerful positioning statements.
Brands are all latching onto the same “purpose” fuelled messaging and consumers are getting fed up with the lofty (and often hypocritical) virtue signalling. Businesses have gotten lazy – jumping on the ‘Green’ and ‘Social Justice’ washing band-wagon. They all look and sound the same, making these communications potentially damaging and meaningless to consumers. In this energetic and thought provoking talk, UK strategist Matt Davies will review how brands need to stop leading with purpose messaging and get back to focusing on customer benefit. He’ll explain how that having a customer centric ‘big idea’ is the way to build brands that matte. He’ll also present thoughts on where ‘purpose’ is most strategically effective and how it should be deployed to drive growth and customer loyalty for businesses.
This talk introduces the audience to story theory and how to use it to “manage meaning” and build brands. It goes through how the human mind uses stories to navigate change and how leaders and brand-builders, once they understand this can develop a communications framework to inspire, excite and enthuse.

Taken from his book “Storyategy” in this talk Matt reviews the “Brand Strategy Triangle” which helps leaders to answer four big strategy questions:
– Why do we exist?
– Who do we exist to serve?
– How should we show up for them?
– What is our offer?
