Biography
Rob Hosking is a previous front line Police Officer turned TEDx motivational speaker. Rob’s two main areas of expertise are happiness and mental health.
In his inspiring talks, Rob fearlessly shares his own personal journey, including struggles with mental health, and creates a safe and relatable space for honest conversations. By emphasising the importance of open communication and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, Rob creates an environment where people feel empowered to prioritise their wellbeing and happiness to live a life where they thrive instead of just survive. On his last shift Rob witnessed two very traumatic incidents which changed how he viewed life. He co-founded Rise of Happiness which is a movement to become happier. Rise of Happiness publishes free happiness magazines which include inspirational and uplifting stories and expert tips and research on happiness. Rob is also a trained mental health first aider and is on a mission to motivate others to choose happiness for themselves and their organisation.
His passion in creating happier lives and his experiences as a police officer has given Rob a unique perspective on life. He is a vocal advocate for breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health encouraging others to speak up about their struggles and to always choose happiness in their lives as he explores the negative impacts of unhappiness, both physically and mentally.

"Always Choose Happiness"
“Always Choose Happiness,” is an intimate portrayal of Rob’s personal journey with mental health as a police officer and his path to happiness. He shares his experiences of negativity and experiencing trauma on a daily basis and the toll it took on his own happiness. Rob opens up about his struggles with suicide and how he finally had an awakening on his last shift after witnessing a suicide and the death of his colleague in front of him.
Through his journey, Rob has learned the importance of speaking about one’s mental health and how living a life aligned to your core values can be the key to achieving happiness. He provides tips on what his police career has taught him about life and shares the 7 Steps to Happiness that he has created. These steps have led him to a happier life and he believes they can help others as well.
